1,776 Joints Welded at Staples Center

As part of the construction activity at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, Arc Machines' customer, Shinn Mechanical of Bellevue, Washington played an important role. As a sub-contractor to the general contractor, CAMCO of Toronto, Canada, Shinn was responsible for installing the 1-1/4" carbon steel piping which freezes the ice rink in the center.

Shinn's owner, Mr. Mike Shinn, reported that his crew of 5 men, using two Arc Machines' Model 207A power supplies and Model 9-2500 weld heads installed 55,000 feet of pipe in 9 days. They welded 1,776 joints with no leaks and a zero reject rate! Mr. Shinn stated that one of his best welders made 107 welds on one shift! The general contractor's head inspector said that he had never seen so much pipe go in so quickly and so smoothly.
