In a recently published article a Canadian pulp mill increased the life of its boiler without replacing the unit's economizer headers by using Arc Machines' orbital welding equipment. The short duration of the scheduled shutdown along with severely restricted access to the weld zone made manual welding an impractical choice. Without the speed and versatility of AMI orbital welding equipment, the alternative would have been to replace an entire set of header bundles using Arc Machines' equipment to retube the boilers. Total reported savings were $750,000.
