Tube-to-Tubesheet Welding
(Either fusion-only or with filler wire): for manufacture of steam generators, shell-and-tube and other heat exchangers.
In-place tube-to-tubesheet welds are a specialty at Arc Machines, and we have put a lot of expertise into the design of our tubesheet welding equipment. Our Model 96 is a fusion-only weld head for welding flush or slightly projected tubes. Developed for a U.S. Navy project to weld titanium heat exchangers, it features a built-in gas chamber for excellent gas coverage.
Tube-to-tubesheet welding with filler wire is more complex as the tube joint design can vary from flush, to projected and even recessed. The Model 6 features Arc Voltage Control (AVC) and mounts on a fixture, which minimizes the time between welds. Several torches are available to weld the different joints. Some torches use a water-cooled chill follower, which cools the inside of the tube and tracks the tube I.D.
There's not enough space here to discuss all aspects of tube-to-tubesheet welding, so call, fax or write for literature, a video or a quotation.
